MANN-Filter is a division of MANN+Hummel, a Ludwigsburg-based automotive supplier that was established in 1941. The company was founded by a math teacher and a lawyer, who joined forces to manage a textile plant in Stuttgart, Germany.
After the textile business started failing, they managed to secure a license agreement with Mahle to produce various filters for the automotive industry.
The agreement with Mahle is what led them to establish MANN+Hummel. The company went through a lot of ups and downs.
There were several instances throughout its existence where they were almost forced to close down their manufacturing plant.
Hard work and innovation are what helped the company survive. Since the 1950s, the company established the MANN-Filter division. With the idea to develop a premium filter brand in the automotive aftermarket, the company became a global success.
